Superior Team Training
During orientation and throughout the year, all of our team is required to take a course or refresher course in infection control, airborne pathogens, blood-borne pathogens, HIPPA, injury prevention, and emergency vehicle operations.
In addition, we make sure that:
- EMTs and paramedics are responsible for maintaining their credentials and certifications. Brewster Ambulance Service sponsors continuing education support in order for professionals to maintain their certifications and credentials.
- We provide in-house EMT and paramedic training and certification (CPR, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS) programs, as well as refresher courses and continuing education programs. All certification programs are videotaped to confirm team attendance.
- All of our communication center staff is trained and certified EMD communication specialists as well as being EMT-P or EMT-B certified.
- Under the direction of our medical director, directors from the Beth Israel Hospital and the Southcoast Hospital Group, all of the Brewster team is required to attend monthly medical rounds and a skills lab twice annually.
Brewster Ambulance Service evaluates past driving records when interviewing candidates and at every six (6) months while working on the Brewster team. To assure the highest quality professionals, we use Hire Right as a third-party to conduct criminal background checks and require a current Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) from the State of Massachusetts.
Clinical delivery and education is paramount at Brewster Ambulance Service. EMS training that Brewster develops includes State of Massachusetts recertification, CPR, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS programs as well as continuing education programs required by the Department of Public Health. This education consists of mandatory state-regulated education modules and includes an online education portal with extensive content that covers all patient populations.
