Training for High Performance

Brewster Braintree EMTs

Training is the backbone of our success, and we know our team is the heart of why the Brewster brand stands apart from the rest. All Brewster EMTs and paramedics exceed EMS certification and training benchmarks and we make it a regular practice to keep our team always learning and growing.

There are ample opportunities for the Brewster team to maintain their credentials in a proactive manner as well as pursue continuing education tracks so they may achieve their individual career and certification objectives. We even created a BAS/EMS scholarship which enables a member of our BLS team to attend the paramedic education program free of charge.

Professional EMS Training and Education

At Brewster, we invest in the best for our customers and our team. We place high priority on making sure that our training is leading edge and the continuing education we provide our team and first responder partners is state-of-the-art and as current as possible.

Because training and education are so critical to safe EMS performance and the care of patients, we have a dedicated training facility outfitted with the latest technology to deliver instruction in a variety of formats. Within this space we also have created sim labs with an operational ambulance and current equipment set up for hands-on practical clinical instruction by our most experienced EMTs and paramedics as well as our certified instructors.

Superior Team Training

During orientation and throughout the year, all of our team is required to take a course or refresher course in infection control, airborne pathogens, blood-borne pathogens, HIPPA, injury prevention, and emergency vehicle operations.

In addition, we make sure that:

  • EMTs and paramedics are responsible for maintaining their credentials and certifications. Brewster Ambulance Service sponsors continuing education support in order for professionals to maintain their certifications and credentials.
  • We provide in-house EMT and paramedic training and certification (CPR, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS) programs, as well as refresher courses and continuing education programs. All certification programs are videotaped to confirm team attendance.
  • All of our communication center staff is trained and certified EMD communication specialists as well as being EMT-P or EMT-B certified.
  • Under the direction of our medical director, directors from the Beth Israel Hospital and the Southcoast Hospital Group, all of the Brewster team is required to attend monthly medical rounds and a skills lab twice annually.

Brewster Ambulance Service evaluates past driving records when interviewing candidates and at every six (6) months while working on the Brewster team. To assure the highest quality professionals, we use Hire Right as a third-party to conduct criminal background checks and require a current Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) from the State of Massachusetts.

Clinical delivery and education is paramount at Brewster Ambulance Service. EMS training that Brewster develops includes State of Massachusetts recertification, CPR, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS programs as well as continuing education programs required by the Department of Public Health. This education consists of mandatory state-regulated education modules and includes an online education portal with extensive content that covers all patient populations.
